Today is Equal Pay Day. It is not celebratory so “Happy” does not proceed mention of this milestone day because it is not celebratory.
Instead, today marks the day white women finally make as much money as men did in 2021. In other words, white women make just 83 cents for every dollar paid to men.
How is this legal, you ask. It’s not. The Equal Pay Act,
codified over 60 years ago requires that employers pay employees equally regardless of gender.

If you are paid correctly but in HR and have knowledge of unequal pay schemes, you also have the right to oppose/report your employers unlawful compensation practices.
And, white women have privilege is this regard because:
Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Women’s Equal Pay Day is May 3. Asian American and Pacific Islander women are paid 75 cents for every dollar paid to white men.
Black Women’s Equal Pay Day is September 21. Black women are paid 58 cents for every dollar paid to white men.
Native Women’s Equal Pay Day is November 30. Native women are paid 50 cents for every dollar paid to white men.
Latina’s Equal Pay Day is December 8. Latinas are paid 49 cents for every dollar paid to white men.
There are more than one equal pay day to denote the day that women of color must work until before their wages catch up with men's.
