Reight will be presenting at the Ohio Association of Education Support Professionals (OAESP), an affiliate organization of the Ohio Education Association (OEA) and the National Education Association (NEA), on October 10, 2026.

Her presentation, “Trends & Legal Update,” will examine emerging issues, recent legal developments, and significant trends affecting Ohio’s educational support professionals, including the rights and protections of public school employees.

BMCO was grateful for the opportunity for Rachel Reight Harrod, 2025 OSBF Fellow, to join our colleagues from the Ohio State Bar Foundation for a day of service at the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. It was wonderful to volunteer alongside other OSBF fellows and Brian Harrod from Renner Otto, as we worked together to support families across our region.

A big thank you to the Akron-Canton Foodbank for everything they do to combat hunger, and to the Ohio State Bar Foundation for organizing such a meaningful outreach effort!

Today, Tuesday, September 1, Partner Rachel M. Reight, Esq. will serve as a panelist at the 2026 State Personnel Board of Review Conference in Dublin, Ohio.

Rachel will join Vanitha Zacharias, Head of Technology Governance and Chief Artificial Intelligence Strategist for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, and Richard A. Bales, Esq., Professor, Arbitrator, and former Dean of the Ohio Northern University College of Law, for the session, “Citizen & Work-Centered AI: Designing and Using Artificial Intelligence With and For the Public.” Justin Brown, MBA, PMP, CSM, Research Administrator for the State Employment Relations Board, will moderate the discussion.

We are proud that Rachel will contribute her labor and employment law perspective to this timely conversation about designing and using artificial intelligence responsibly in public service.

The program is open to all ECOEA members and will provide timely legal information relevant to Ohio educators and local association leaders.

As summer comes to a close, we are saying goodbye to two great members of the BMCO team, Gabby Johnson and Holden Harrod.

Gabby brought a thoughtful and professional approach to her internship and spent the summer getting an inside look at the day to day work of a labor and employment law practice. We appreciated her willingness to learn, take on new assignments, and contribute wherever she was needed.

Holden helped us with projects involving office templates and workflows while also learning that practicing law involves far more than what happens in a courtroom. His curiosity, attention to detail, and willingness to tackle whatever we put in front of him made him a valuable part of the office this summer.

Thank you, Gabby and Holden, for your hard work and for spending your summer with BMCO. We enjoyed having you as part of our team and wish you both a successful school year and all the best in what comes next.

Today, Baasten, McKinley & Co., L.P.A. attorney Abbey Bashor will make 2 presentations titled “When a Post Becomes a Problem” to the Westlake Teachers Association, addressing the issues educators should consider when their online activity intersects with the workplace.
