JSEL serves as a forum in which scholars from these and other disciplines can discuss the law as it relates specifically to the sports and entertainment industries and the unique issues raised therein. JSEL strives to be the premier source for academic analysis of these issues, such that scholars, industry professionals, news media, and the general public turn to JSEL when complicated legal issues arise in the sports and entertainment community.

The report, entitled, "Comparing Health-Related Policies and Practices in Sports: The NFL and Other Professional Sports Leagues, was written by experts at the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics.

JSEL is proud to announce the publication of its first Special Issue, comprised of a report associated with the Harvard Football Players Health Study, an going project examining the well-being of NFL players. The study, titled “Protecting and Promoting the Health of NFL Players: Legal and Ethical Analysis and Recommendations," concludes that NFL Team Doctors have a conflict of interest in their duties to the team and to the players themselves. The study was authored by members of Harvard's Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics. The following members of JSEL's staff also contributed to the study: Scott Sherman, Elisa Hevia, Laura Trumbull, and Jennifer Mindrum.
