WELCOMING SHAY MARIE! 💕
Born swiftly on 12/12 weighing 8.6lbs and 20 in long.
We are in love. 🥰

I’ve been *a bit* quiet the last week and a half as we waited for our little GIRL’s arrival! We are so excited to welcome Shay to our family (and to team TLP 😉).

The backstory: With this pregnancy I knew I wanted to go into labor on my own (if at all possible). I had that experience with Vaughn and it was so special that he picked his own birthday. We really thought she’d come a little earlier due to this being my second pregnancy and all the signs pointed towards that…but nope. I was pushing 41 weeks when sweet Shay decided to make her grand entrance and, wow. I forgot how hard the waiting game is those last few days. IYKYK.

Despite the long wait, labor and delivery was wayyyy faster than my first (I’m talking here only 5 minutes of pushing!). We are both doing so well + settling into our new routine at home.

I’ll be honest, my mama heart is absolutely exploding as I watch big brother “take care” of his little sister.🥹 I received so much advice from this community about the transition from 1-2 kids and so far…it’s been great.

This time around I feel so much more peace + confidence in my ability to handle postpartum and motherhood. Granted, navigating a toddler and newborn is going to be a challenge 🤪— but a challenge filled with so much love, joy, and preciousness that the hard stuff fades away.

Thank you for all the love! ❤️✌🏼Headed back into maternity leave and trying my best NOT to get on here very much. If I’ve learned anything it’s that babies don’t keep.

BIG SWAZI ! Going to have a baby…👶🏼🤍

Okay— I’m not in labor (yet). But still signing off for maternity leave and trying to soak in allllllll the anticipation that comes with bringing a new life into the world.

I had my fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that I wouldn’t go into labor during Thanksgiving break and my wishes were granted. A December baby it is! Can’t wait to meet this little one, snuggle by the twinkling lights of our Christmas tree, and hibernate for the winter. 😉

But seriously— with my oldest I BARELY took a maternity leave. This go around I’m going to try my best to give myself time. Time to heal. Time to adjust to life with two. And time to soak in such a tender season for our family.

My team will still be posting tons of legal content so stay tuned. My world might stop for this baby, but we’ve still got your business covered when it comes to legal protection.

…and last but not least, please give me your best tips for life with two littles. I know it’s going to rock my world (in the very best way). 🥰

The turning of the season 🍂 means back to business, new routines, and a whole lot of goals to hit and to-dos to get done before we have holidays galore.

IT ALSO MEANS MAJOR MINDSET SHIFTS AND A WHOLE LOTTA S**Z GOING ON AT ONCE.

I don’t know about you, but the last couple weeks were insane. Some say Mercury was in retrograde and others say it’s due to the massive changes in snapping out of “summer mode” and back into “work mode”. I say it’s all of the above, plus pregnancy. ;)

I then saw a story from .harris that really hit me. “You can do anything you want, but you can’t do everything.” Aint that the truth! As women, especially business women who are business owners AND moms, we’ve got about 15 million things on our plate right now. Going back to school, back to work, back to routines, back to the grind, back to everyone else needing things from you every minute of the day.

Just remember that it’s not just you. It’s all of us. I had hundreds of people in my DMs last week telling me that they felt the same, which gave me so much comfort. Sometimes it’s simply just plain lonely navigating all of it on your own from behind a computer when you run your business online in a home office.

My biggest tip: know that it’s just a season and it will all get figured out and you WILL get through it.

That’s what I told myself over and over again late last week. And then, of course right on cue, this weekend it started calming down a bit which felt like I was indeed getting through it and coming out the other side.

So, here’s what I want you to do if you’re in that place when all feels too overwhelming around you:

✨Take an hour (or day) to yourself to get grounded

✨Go have a big PSL ☕️ (or whatever your fall bevvy of choice is)

✨Come back and focus on finishing ONE task that really matters and will make you feel hella accomplished

Here’s to a NEW WEEK and starting to get our personalities back!

I swapped hot girl summer for preggo girl summer + it's been great. 😅
..but really, feeling super thankful for this growing baby and that I'm not quite at the "I am unbearably pregnant" stage of things while the weather is so hot.

Thus far, this pregnancy, it’s been a lot different than my first! Nausea x 10 the first 18 weeks, lots of cravings, and more aches and pains. All while chasing around a VERY active toddler 🤪! Jokes aside, it’s honestly been a fabulous past few months taking intentional time off to be present with my family and spend as much time with Vaughn as possible before his little sibling arrives. Lake time at the cabin, lots of walks in the woods, and boating! And, luckily, now I’m feeling pretty darn great pregnancy-wise heading into the fall when work is ramping up.

Here's to the third trimester, alllllllll the nesting, and trying to wrap my head around the concept of having TWO children. We can't wait to meet you baby! 🤍🍼

How to LEGALLY issue a refund! 👀⬇️

As a business owner you will probably encounter situations where you have to issue refunds to clients. It could be because of a mistake on your end or because of a cancellation of a service or event. Regardless of the reason, it's essential to handle the refund process correctly.

SAVE this post to reference later!

1. Cancellation Contract vs. Refund Contract

A Cancellation Contract is used when a service or event is canceled before it takes place. This type of contract will terminate and replace the previous service contract, along with any verbal contracts made with the client. Within the cancellation contract, you must clearly state what will happen to any fees paid by the client. This could include a partial refund, no refund, or full refund, depending on the situation.

A Refund Contract is used after the service or event occurs when usually an error happens on your part and you have decided to issue some type of refund monetarily to the client. It covers situations such as if the client did not receive the service they paid for or is unsatisfied with the service. In the refund contract, you will clearly state how much you are refunding the client. This could include a partial or full refund, depending on the situation.

2. Mutual Release of Claims Clause

Both the cancellation contract and refund contract should include a "Mutual Release of Claims Clause." This important clause ensures that the client cannot sue you for any current or future claims relating to your original contract AND the dispute at hand. This clause is essential to include in the contracts before sending over any type of refund amount.

3. The only exception to NOT getting a signed Cancellation Contract.

The one exception to this is when you are canceling on your clients. If you have to cancel the contract because you cannot find another alternative professional to take your place or if you have a family emergency, you should refund the entirety of your fees, including the retainer. Sometimes you can subtract any services already rendered, but oftentimes it's best to just give them a full refund to avoid future legal liability.

...so, I've been keeping a little secret! 🤍🍼👶🏻

We're PREGNANT with baby # 2 (due this winter!) and feeling all the things.

Joy, excitement, gratitude, and morning sickness...just to name a few. 😉

We can hardly wait to see Vaughn as a big brother 😭 and are pinching ourselves that in a few short months we'll be a party of FOUR.

We'll see you in December, little one. ❤️

📷 A very special thanks to my good friend for snapping the photos!

Did ya spring clean your biz yet? 🧼

Having your business’ legal affairs in order is sort of like having an insurance policy (only BETTER because you don’t have to pay every 6-12 months to renew it). Proper contracts don’t seem all that important when everything is going well- like an insurance policy when you are sitting at the red light listening to a podcast.

But should something go wrong? Those contracts can be literally the ONLY thing standing between saving your business and it crumbling to the ground. (Dramatic, but true).

Did you know that 12,000,000 small businesses get sued every year?
That’s 36%-53% of all small businesses.

Legal issues are not rare.
Getting sued isn’t rare.
Tension with clients isn’t rare.

…and having a solid contract is THE #1 SOLUTION to alleviate the headaches + heartbreak that so often come along with legal woes.

Comment the word “Checklist” and I’ll DM you my spring cleaning business checklist 💌👇🏻
