Can a citizen arrest another in Idaho?

Yes. A citizen can arrest so long as they see the crime committed in there presence, notify the person of arrest, and take them to a police officer or before a judge. Be careful, if you are wrong you don't have immunity like police officers, if you use too much force, don't have probable cause, or make a false arrest and detain them longer than is necessary you could be paying the rest of your life for it.

Pro Tip: Many people now a days will pull out a cell phone and begin recording a confrontation. They do this because the confrontations will now most likley be admissible in court. Be calm, cool, and collected, and expect that they will show the recording to the police. The police normally take the path of least resistance and begin to look at you as a suspect for not recording. It is not uncommon for the person with the cell phone to be the "victim" of a situation and the person who is being recorded the "suspect" in the situation. I call this...the "race to the phone."

Pro Tip: If you are charged with a crime and there may be a dispute about who did what or how it happened. Always look around. Chances are there is a camera above you or neighbors with a 'ring" camera. Many people wait too long however to try and gather the footage. Most camera systems only save data for 15-40 days. So sometimes, if you procrastinate in getting it then things become a "he said/she said" argument. The moral is, act fast!

Tip: A properly fitted dress shirt, slacks, suit, or dress/skirt can really make a fantastic impression and set you apart in the courtroom. It doesnt have to cost an arm and a leg. Budget options can include going to thrift stores like Savers, DI, and GoodWills. Affordable options can include stores like, TJ Macks, Burlington Coat Factory, Target, and Walmart.
