Job Title: Legal Assistant (Part – Time)
Location: Downtown Buffalo
Schedule: 20 – 25 hours per week, with potential for more
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to support and enhance all administrative functions in a fast-paced, established family law firm. This includes developing case information, evidence and settlement options, tracking case statuses, court and client communication, supporting attorney's trial proceedings, and other duties as assigned.

Legal Assistant Job Duties:
• Provide excellent customer service:
ď‚§ Answering phone calls 9am-5pm and prepare handwritten messages
ď‚§ Scheduling appointments
ď‚§ Professional communication with all interested parties including all court personnel
ď‚§ 100% discretion is a must
• Active file maintenance and organization, monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database; confirming case status with attorney.
• Scanning, Purging and shredding documents.
• Entering and logging time spent on each case in billing system.
• Help develop cases by maintaining contact with all parties involved in the case; arranging for ser-vice of process; scheduling depositions; preparing and filing pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses; preparing responses to opposing counsel.
• Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress. Preparing various types of correspondence related to cases in word document form and e-mail.

• Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with attorney, clients, and providers.
• Enhances trial proceedings by organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed.
• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different re-quests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Pay Range:
$17 – 18 per hour
