MY TAKE ON UBER'S REQUEST Before our State makes any changes to the Insurance Law, consider the source of those pushing for change. Uber had to get approval from each state to come into that state. Why? Because states like New York have certain requirements on every taxi company. When Uber came into New York, Cuomo negotiated that they would provide a million dollars of insurance coverage because they were having any driver basically become a taxi driver. Uber agreed to that. Don't let our state renegotiate that agreement.

Uber is doing great.
They have gross profit of 20% of revenues.
Their gross profit is $10 billion.

Net Income (2025): $10.053 billion (approx. 2% increase over 2024).
Revenue (2025): $52.7 billion, an 18.28% increase year-over-year.

They do not need any change in law to survive. They're just making a change for greed and to have New Yorkers who are actually injured by often very inexperienced Uber drivers bear the cost while they reap even more profit.

They have huge marketing campaigns to make themselves appear sympathetic and huge political donation campaigns to get politicians to carry their water.

Please ask Governor Hochul not to let Uber out of the agreement they made with NY.

I love serving our clients and at the same time helping the attorneys who refer. We copy the referring attorney and client on all our litigation matters. Thank goodness for Buffalo's own Govern Kathy Hochul. For decades, government has been afraid of insurance carriers or not willing to do the work to see how unfair to injured workers using 50 year old caps are. Without benefiting employers. Only helping carriers make such extreme profits off mandated insurance.
