WTF MOMENT: The most dangerous thing in a home may be the thing you can’t smell, see, or taste. 🤯
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas created by uranium in soil and rock. It can enter through foundation cracks, floor drains, sump openings, and other gaps : and quietly collect indoors.
The EPA estimates that about 1 in 15 U.S. homes has elevated radon levels. That is a national estimate : not a measurement of every home or community.
Here’s the critical takeaway for buyers in Bryan, College Station, and surrounding Central Texas communities: a visual home inspection cannot determine radon levels. A qualified radon test is a separate and important due-diligence step.
A visual inspection evaluates accessible components as an interconnected system. It does not measure invisible gases in the air. New, clean, or code-compliant does not automatically mean risk-free.
Independent eyes. Clear documentation. Third-party confidence. Testing : not appearance : is how radon levels are determined. This post is educational, not a diagnosis.
