Happy Presidents Day from the crew at Spencer-Jones Attorneys, PLC Originally known as Washington’s birthday, which began its celebration in 1885. It honored the birthday of our first president George Washington. In 1968 it became one federal holiday merged with Lincoln’s birthday and presidents day. We hope you were able to relax some today, and reflect upon our great countries leaders’ and how each of them have, in their own unique way,helped move us forward.

We have a work anniversary today. #21 for Kim Firmin Smallwood. She has a heart of gold, loves the Lord, helps all our clients, and we are very grateful for her. This former HHS Tomcat cheerleader is an absolute jewel, and we would be lost without her. Happy anniversary, Kim.

If you partied hard at UT Martin, then you may have seen this courthouse before…… we were happy to help a client this week in Weakley County General Sessions Court. The County seat is Dresden but the largest city is Martin. More than 33,000 residents call Weakley County home with other towns as Sharon, Greenfield, Gleason, Palmersville and Dukedom.

the Stars and Stripes flying today in in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. December 7th is a Day to remember and honor the 2403 service members and civilians who were killed during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Last week I passed the 31 year anniversary mark of practicing law. Justin Jones hit the 12 year mark. We were feeling rather accomplished ……until I ran into this crackerjack in the court room on Tuesday. The esteemed C. Thomas Hooper III got his law license on August 5, 1959. Yes I said 1959. We still have cases together, and his longevity is to be truly admired.

Privileged to help out an incredibly nice client today in Montgomery County. There is a beautiful old courthouse thats well-maintained as a reminder of its rich history. All courts now are housed in the Millennium Plaza Courts complex. Very impressive structure. Montgomery county is home to more than 225,000 people and it’s consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in Tennessee. Clarksville, Tennessee

Had a busy this week helping clients all over Tennessee. A lot of office work but got to help clients in the courtrooms in Haywood County, Carroll County and Dickson County.  The new courthouse in Dickson county is located in the county seat of Charlotte and boasts 70,000 ft.² and state of the art security. Very impressive building. .

Traveled to Dresden TN this morning. Always happy to help a client out in #weakleycountytn Weakley county is a very proud county in northwest Tennessee boasting 33,000 residents.  Even though Dresden is the county seat, most people know this county through its famous learning institution, known as UTM, the University of Tennessee and Martin, or more traditionally just “Martin”. Most folks I know have learned a thing or two up at “Martin” and had a great time. .

We celebrate Presidents’ Day on the third Monday in February. Originally, this holiday was to honor George Washington on his birthday – February 22. The tradition started in the year, 1800 which was shortly after the death of George Washington. It became an official holiday in the year 1885 and was moved to the third Monday in February in the year 1971. To help honor this day, we have Paul David Jones, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, which was originally written in August 1892.

Thanksgiving can be a special time for families. The reality of our world is that divorce can have a great impact on family celebrations. For all the divorced parents-thank you for your patience in the alternate year "Thanksgiving day" time you get to celebrate with your own children. For all the grandparents affected by their divorced adult children- thank you for your flexibility in allowing practicality to override "old traditions" without a fuss. Last but not least, for all the children of divorced parents-thank you for spending extra time in a car traveling, loving new family members, AND consuming 2 enormous meals of basically the same food. Your stomach may hurt but you have 2 families that love you very much.
