The United States has one of the richest military histories the world has ever known. We owe a great deal of this national success to the individuals, across time, which have made up the ranks of our United States Armed Forces.
 
In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. The United States Congress officially recognized the end of World War I, passing a concurrent resolution on June 4, 1926. An Act of Congress, approved May 13, 1938, made the 11th of November in each year a legal holiday—dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as "Armistice Day." The 83rd Congress, urged by veterans’ service organizations, amended the Act of 1938 by striking out the word "Armistice" and replacing it with the word "Veterans." With the approval of this legislation on June 1, 1954, November 11th became a day to honor American veterans of all wars. On June 1, 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower signed legislation changing Armistice Day to Veterans Day. On October 8th, 1954 President Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first "Veterans Day Proclamation".

This October, in addition to representing clients in a real courtroom, I had the opportunity to assist as an Attorney Advisor helping students in preparation for their High School Mock Trial competition. We covered how to establish a foundation for evidence; how to enter evidence into the record; and how to make proper objections. It was really fun distilling the practice into pedagogy. I look forward to continuing to serve in this role for students and I look forward to continuing to represent real clients in real courtrooms when they need real Counsel. The future of our community is bright in Brownsville.
