Urgent Update: Form I-864 Edition Change and New Credit Check Rule

We discuss a critical update for family-based green card applicants: the Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support) edition changed on August 31, initially making the old form unusable immediately. After a lawsuit, USCIS granted a 30-day grace period through September We explain the new rule: both the old (October 17, and new (August 24, editions are accepted until September 30; from October 1, only the new edition is valid. We also highlight a new feature: signing the new form authorizes credit checks, but poor credit alone won't cause denial—though income, assets, and liabilities still matter. We advise checking the edition before filing, lifting credit freezes if requested, and considering a joint sponsor if income is borderline.

Domestic Flight = Safe From ICE? Not Always. ⚠️

Many immigrants assume that flying from one U.S. state to another means there’s no immigration risk. Recent reports of **ICE arrests during domestic air travel** have raised serious concerns, including cases involving individuals with pending immigration applications.

A pending green card or immigration application does not automatically protect you from immigration enforcement. Your immigration history, visa status, prior overstays, and other factors can matter.

✈️ Planning a domestic flight?
🇺🇸 Don’t assume domestic travel means zero immigration risk.
⚖️ Speak with an experienced immigration attorney before making travel decisions.

Know your status. Know your risks. Protect your future.

Missed Your Asylum Fee Deadline? ⚠️

If you previously received an asylum fee payment notice with a 30-day deadline but missed the payment, there may still be an opportunity to make the payment through the USCIS payment portal.

The portal is currently allowing some applicants to make payments, but it is unclear how long this option will remain available.

✅ If you missed the deadline, try making the payment now.
📄 Keep your payment confirmation/proof for your records.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 If multiple family members are included in one application, it is generally one payment per application, not one payment per family member.
📅 Remember: this is an annual payment.

If you received an asylum fee notice and are unsure what to do, don’t ignore it. Get legal guidance and act promptly.

🚨 ADVANCE PAROLE HOLDERS — WATCH THIS BEFORE YOU TRAVEL! ✈️🇺🇸

Have Advance Parole and planning to leave the U.S.? Don’t book that flight just yet.

A major immigration rule change effective August 13, 2026 could affect people who have accumulated unlawful presence in the United States.

⚠️ Even with Advance Parole, leaving the U.S. may potentially trigger a 3-year or 10-year bar, depending on your individual immigration history.

Your Advance Parole approval does not automatically mean you are protected** from unlawful presence consequences.

👉 Before traveling, have your immigration history reviewed and understand the potential risks in your specific case.

📌 Save this reel & share it with someone who has Advance Parole.
