Today we are talking about work routines🧑💻, and what you do to achieve your goals🏅 for the day.
At our firm, we fight injustices in the legal system and defend the Constitution. So, it is critical that we work effectively to provide the best 🥇representation. Let’s explore how we work.
So, you’ve started the night 🌙 before and got good sleep 🛌💤; you’ve gotten up ⏰ early, meditated, 🧘♂️ spoken🗣 your affirmation, visualized your blessings 🧠 for gratitude, 🙌 exercised,🏃🏊🏋️ did your reading, 📚and wrote down your goals for the day✏️📓; now it’s time to get things done.
First, we work on our big 3️⃣ goals for the day using the pomodoro method which involves setting a timer ⏲ and working for at least that amount of time on the task. (Read more here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique). This work could be client work 🗃marketing 👨🏻💻, or improving our firm standard operating procedures ✏️📋.
Second, we continue using pomodoros until we hit another activity such as a morning court 👨⚖️ appearance or we reach our call 📞and email 📧time. We only send emails 📧and return calls 📞during these times so we don’t let this shallow work interrupt our deep thinking💆♂️ work. This significantly increases 📈 productivity.
Next, we review our curated social media feed for interesting stories 📰to share with our audience, or for writing topics for our new blog we are rolling out.
For lunch, 🥗we embrace the “Never Eat Alone” framework and try to schedule lunches with referral lawyers 👩💼and other professional 🧑💻👨⚕️🕵🏻♂️connections.
After lunch we will do another deep work session using the Pomodoro ⏲ method. Next, we reach our client meeting block and hold intake meetings, or meetings with existing clients to discuss their case.
Next, We have one last email 📧and call return period before the close of business so we can end communications 📵for the day (except for incoming client calls).
At the end of the workday, we process any sticky notes or papers 📑✉️on the desk, review the day, and tentatively plan for the next day📆.
Of course, like everyone else, surprises 🎉 come up and we are not perfect 🚫💯at keeping to this work routine, but we have found that when we do, it is extremely effective at helping us achieve our goals of fighting injustices 🤼♂️in our legal system and protecting the rights of the accused.
What things do you plan in your day to help get things done? What tips or tricks would you suggest we consider?
