Just one of those that we can hardly keep quiet: to deliver such wonderful news to yet another family warms my heart and makes our job worth the while. Hearing the Immigration Judge state that "removal proceedings are dismissed and terminated" is music to my client and his family. And they are not alone.
Some background: many an immigrant to the U.S. can relate to what we now call the "DV Dilemma". A successful entrant to the DV program does not, for various reasons, list all their relatives -spouses, children etc. on the official documents. Down the road, the U.S. government cries fraud and seeks to deport the immigrant from the country. To be fair, the law clearly requires that ALL IMMEDIATE RELATIVES be disclosed.
Oft times though, there may be a valid, unintentional and otherwise non-fraudulent reasons for such a failure to disclose. When we can successfully argue thus and have the matter dismissed, another family is happy tonight. And we're glad to have helped.
