It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our fellow attorney and friend, Attorney William J. ("Bill") Kupinse, Jr. Bill practiced law with Goldstein and Peck for more than 50 years. In addition to devoting his professional life to this law firm, Bill served on numerous local boards and commissions and was the first selectman of the Town of Easton for 10 years. Rest in peace, counselor.

The neediest among us need our help more than ever. Connecticut has started a charitable organization matching donors with programs responding to Covid -19. It is by no means the exclusive method of helping people in need. Certainly local food banks are also hurting. No matter how you decide to help, please be generous.

Recognizing the considerable demand on resources the COVID-19 public health emergency is having on nearly every aspect of life across the state, a group of Connecticut-based philanthropists today announced that they have established a charitable organization to raise new support for the state’s no...

Small business owners can obtain funding from the federal government to defray payroll expenses for 2 months and have the loan totally forgiven. The program is called PPP - Payroll Protection Program:

How Do I Get This Loan Forgiven?
This is the critical question. The loan forgiveness provision is the best part. You are eligible for loan forgiveness for the amounts you spend over the next eight weeks after receiving the loan on certain qualifying expenses. The qualifying expenses of the business over the eight-week period includes payroll costs, rent, interest on mortgage debt and utilities.

If the number of full-time employees is reduced over this time period or if your payroll costs are reduced 25 percernt or more, then the amount of the loan eligible for forgiveness will be reduced.

The government has done its part to make funds available in a way that’s never been done before; now it’s up to the small business lending community to get that cash into the hands of business owners quickly.
