New Stricter Distracted Driving Laws Now in Place in Connecticut
We just heard this from a client and thought we would share....Under a new law passed by the legislature, watching videos on a phone or car screen while driving is not allowed. The law also prohibits drivers from talking on the phone while holding or touching it in any way, including using speakerphone or resting the phone on any part of their body. Instead, drivers must utilize hands-free options. The only exceptions to this rule are for emergency calls.

Starting October 1, the penalties for violations are as follows: a first offense will result in a $200 fine, a second offense carries a $375 fine, and any subsequent offenses will incur a fine of $625.
