Deer Ridge Golf Club closed for good on September 8, 2019.

Seven years later, homes there are still occasionally marketed on golf course frontage. That is a problem, because a buyer can search the address and find out in about ninety seconds.

Here is what is actually true. The course closed after years of losses and a failed irrigation pump. A plan to consolidate it with Shadow Lakes and build housing on the closed holes fell apart after community opposition. The land is privately held and unentitled. An agrihood has been proposed since 2021 and nothing has been approved or built.

What did come back is the clubhouse, which reopened in 2025 as a restaurant.

None of that makes Deer Ridge a bad place to own. It makes it a different place to own than the marketing suggests, and buyers deserve the real version.

Brentwood has three genuinely different options for buyers 55 and older. Most people only know about one of them.

Trilogy at the Vineyards is the resort-scale choice. Roughly 1,100 homes, and instead of several small clubhouses it concentrates everything into Club Los Meganos, a 38,000 square foot facility with indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center and spa, a ballroom, and a private dining room. The 27-hole Brentwood Golf Club is next door.

Summerset is the established one, four separate associations, mid 90s to mid 2000s. The Meadows at Marsh Creek is where you go for new construction.
