A local nurse practitioner (not a physician), running a "dermatology" clinic, includes in his intake forms a document titled "Resume of Contract." This insufferable and misleading title is a WAIVER OF ANY CLAIM FOR MEDICAL MALPRACTICE he might commit. It follows that if you file such a claim, your expert must be from the same medical club as him. DO NOT SIGN THIS FORM. In fact, think twice about seeing a medical care provider with the audacity to have you sign a form saying you cannot make a claim if he fails to diagnose your melanoma, fails to communicate biopsy results, unreasonably delays a squamous cell carcinoma diagnosis, you get burned or blinded from the numerous possible laser applications, or he gives you a medicine that terminates your pregnancy (these are reported mistakes by dermatologists). I have never in my life seen such a form. Yeah, once I saw there was no MD on staff and then hit this page, I walked out. NP's are very valuable providers but they must have physician oversight. NP's graduate with 1500 clinic hours in training. MDs graduate with 15,000 clinic hours in training. Do you research.
