Why are these enormous hospital corporations, who own hundreds of hospitals throughout our country, focusing ALL of their resources on more PROFITS OVER PEOPLE’s LIVES?
Why do the “have nots” ALWAYS SUFFER AT THE HANDS OF THE “we have as much as we can get our hands on”, yet the poor always suffer the WORST HARM?
I love helping children, especially newborn babies, but my trial victories are bitter/sweet.
I cannot give back a newborn child’s vision, or loss of their legs and arms, but I revel in the fact that the healthcare folks are held responsible for their errors and omissions, and this poor child is awarded enough money to be able to have the best of care, for the rest of his, or her life.
They live as well as possible, given all that they suffered through.
Nothing them back the way they should have been, had the care been appropriate.
This is the life I have chosen. I love to help these children.
It is my life’s calling,

After nearly 45 years of practicing law, as a plaintiff, medical negligence, catastrophic injury, lawyer, I am thinking about jumping in, head first to restart my world. There have been many changes over the past two years, leading me back to my passion of helping newborn babies and other children.
I can’t retire and “fade away” into that ordinary retirement lifestyle of boredom and watching others lead productive lives. It’s just not in my DNA.

I actually love my work, each and every day that I get up, and think to myself…
Maybe there’s a damaged baby, that I can help, by being the strongest advocate, in order to assure this poor child, and his family, who are always there, to lend a hand.
WHEN WILL THESE ENORMOUS HOSPITAL CHAINS, ULTIMATELY ARE HELD WITH THEIR HANDS IN THE FIRE OF OWNING UP TO THEIR CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY?
The answer hangs in the balance of “what’s right or wrong”.
It’s all upside down, when profit motive exceeds their obligation to:
1. Learn that quality of care is, by far, so much more crucial, to be reminded every single day, that a newborn’s life is SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE $$$$$ THAT THEY COVET, ABOVE ALL ELSE!!
2. Treat a laboring mom, who carries inside of her belly, a beautiful, as yet unborn BABY!
IF YOU TREAT THEM WITH KNOWLEDGE AND USE THAT TRAINING YOU WORKED SO HARD, TO ENSURE THAT QUALITY OF CARE EXCEEDS THE PROFIT MOTIVE, BY A LANDSLIDE.

THAT’s why SHAPIRO LAW IS IN PRACTICE FOR OVER FOUR DECADES, AND STILL GOING STRONG, TO ENSURE WHEN THAT LEVEL OF CARE FALLS BELOW WHAT IS, IN ANY HOSPITAL IN OUR COUNTRY, SLG IS RIGHT THERE, JUST IN CASE.
WELL, WE NEED NOT DISCUSS WHAT HAPPENS, WHEN THEY FAIL TO TREAT YOU AND YOUR BABY WITH “REASONABLE CARE”, THEN WATCH OUT.

The errors by the ophthalmologists who screen for ROP keep blinding these beautiful, innocent babies that will never know their mom’s smile or the love in her eyes. This should NEVER happen.

It’s the very reason I’ve devoted my life’s career and passion to helping these families. The money they’re awarded in a malpractice lawsuit is a far cry from the vision lost. But, it changes the quality of care they receive in the future and avails them of the very best therapies out there.
