“Hey everyone, quick public service announcement for my fellow Pennsylvania residents.
Did you know the Pennsylvania Treasury Department is currently holding billions of dollars in unclaimed property that actually belongs to people? In fact, they say about 1 in 10 Pennsylvanians has money waiting for them.
Unclaimed property can come from things like old bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance payments, refunds, utility deposits, stocks, or dividends. Sometimes it’s simply because someone moved and the company lost contact with them.
The good news is that you can check this for free by going directly to the Pennsylvania Treasury website and searching your name.

The official website is:
patreasury.gov/unclaimed-property

You can also search for family members or even deceased relatives to see if there’s anything that belongs to them.
Now, sometimes when people file a claim — especially if the property is larger, or if paperwork is missing — the verification forms may require a notarized signature to confirm your identity.

Also, some people choose to work with a third-party asset recovery company to help them file the claim. If you go that route, those companies often require the documents to be notarized as well.

So if you ever find yourself needing a notary to verify those documents, feel free to reach out to JD Notary Public. I’d be happy to assist you with getting those forms properly notarized so you can move forward with your claim.

But the first step is simple — go check your name. You never know… you might have money waiting for you.”

The Pennsylvania Treasury Department protects $150+ billion of public funds, returns unclaimed property, manages the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program, and much more.

I’m so grateful to be part of such a strong and supportive notary community.

Volunteering alongside dedicated professionals for the 2025 NotaryToday Annual Notary Conference reminds me how important collaboration and service are in this industry. Thankful for the opportunity to contribute and connect.

Some PA Rent Rebate applications require notarization.

If your landlord did not sign the application, you may need to complete a Tenant Affidavit, which must be notarized before submitting.

Hello everyone,
I know some new notaries feel overwhelmed, thinking once they're commissioned, they have to keep paying for ongoing private training. In Pennsylvania, for example, a notary stamp is $5, and the real income often comes from traveling and being mobile or additional services—like field inspections or I-9 verifications. I'm not saying skip training altogether; a solid foundation is key. But please don't feel pressured to spend hundreds each year on platforms run by other notaries who are also just building their income. If you do invest, make sure it’s with someone you genuinely connect with and can grow alongside. You’ve got this—stay grounded in your state’s requirements and build your business with confidence!
