Summer is a great time to enjoy your home but it’s also a good time to take care of a few things before fall sneaks up on us.

A few simple August homeowner reminders:

• Check decks, patios, and exterior stairs for loose boards or repairs
• Clean gutters and make sure downspouts are directing water away from the house
• Take a look around windows and doors for damaged caulking
• Trim back trees and shrubs that are getting too close to your home
• Walk your property after a heavy rain and watch for drainage issues
• Make note of any exterior projects you’d like to tackle while the weather is still cooperating

And if moving is on your mind before the end of the year, this is also a great time to start talking about what updates are actually worth making before you list.
