If you’re a bartender or server in Massachusetts, the law now makes it clear: your employer must pay you $15 per hour for side work – this includes tasks such as rolling silverware, topping off ketchup bottles or cleaning your area. They cannot pay you the lower tipped rate ($6.75/hour) for that time, even if the service rate plus your tips equals or exceeds the minimum wage of $15 per hour.
