Through shared resources and cross-agency learning, we work in solidarity to create thriving immigrant communities. The Massachusetts Immigrant Collaborative is a statewide, multilingual and diverse collaborative of 15 immigrant serving support organizations, working to ensure shared access to resources. We support with dignity and equity immigrant communities that have been historically under-resourced, including those at-risk and/or without status. By joining forces the Collaborative has been able to serve more than 150,000 immigrants in the last 3 years. We do this in solidarity with the families, respecting their human rights, and investing in their long term economic mobility, while seeking to address urgent needs such as cash and food assistance, immigration legal services and access to other services and opportunities. Happy Friday! A client who went through a frightening detention at Logan Airport stopped by recently with her aunt and a basket of homemade Bolivian food. We are grateful to stand with her. Have a good weekend, everyone.

Thank you to the TJX Companies (TJXCareers) for supporting BCNC’s adult immigrant students with 150 care packages!

TJX volunteers assembled care packages to support BCNC adult students as they work toward their educational, career, and personal goals. Volunteers also wrote notes of encouragement to students as they continue their journey towards securing stable jobs, applying for school, and learning digital skills.

BCNC’s Adult Education and Workforce Initiatives provides a full continuum of ESOL instruction and multiple pathways to employment for 400 immigrant adults each year. We aim to strengthen adult immigrants to overcome barriers and shape their futures through English language proficiency, economic independence, and active community participation.

We are especially grateful to Alyssa Chanthavong and Digvijay Gaikwad for delivering the care packages to BCNC and helping connect this generous support with our community. Thank you TJX Companies for investing in the success of immigrant learners!

Ever wondered what the difference is between Hispanic and Latino? Both of these groups of communities share share deep linguistic and historical roots rooted in Latin but differ in language & geography and they often overlap.

In Quincy, BCNC organized 10 youth to work toward obtaining their driver’s licenses and build skills for future career success. With funding from MassHire South Shore Youth Services, participants prepared for and passed their learner’s permit tests, completed 10 hours of driving instruction, and took their road tests. For youth from low-income immigrant backgrounds, earning a driver’s license was an important step toward greater independence, expanded access to employment, and economic mobility.

"When people speak about Hispanic Heritage Month, the conversation often turns to food, music, language, and traditions. Those things matter, but for me, heritage lives somewhere deeper. It lives in the values and political ideas we carry from one generation to another and from one continent to another. It travels with us across borders, accompanying us throughout our lives."
