Santoro & Gray takes Puerto Rico! We are fortunate to have been able to take our firm to Puerto Rico for a work retreat where we were able to reflect, reconnect, and remember why we do what we do, and why it is so important to recognize everyone's contributions to our client successes. A $40 million arbitration award is putting renewed attention on Uber’s responsibility for the actions of its drivers.

The case involved 23-year-old Emily Normandin-Parker, who was struck and killed by traffic after her Uber driver stopped in a gore point between a highway and an exit ramp. The arbitrator found both Uber and the driver liable, awarding $20 million to each of her parents.

The case is especially notable because it was decided in private arbitration, not by a jury, highlighting how significant rideshare claims can still be resolved outside the courtroom.
