We discuss how it is not legally required to hire a real estate agent when buying or selling a home. The commissions and compensation for agents are negotiable, and buyers are not obligated to only visit properties that offer compensation to their agent. The key is to partner with a trusted realtor with a proven track record, rather than hiring an agent by default. Consumers have the right to hire, fire, or never hire an agent, and the amount paid is a negotiated agreement.
