Actualización sobre SIJ: Muchos solicitantes podrían ser elegibles para solicitar la residencia permanente

El Boletín de Visas de octubre de 2026 trae noticias importantes para las personas con peticiones de Estatus Especial de Inmigrante Juvenil (SIJ) pendientes o aprobadas.

Quienes presentaron el Formulario I-360 bajo la categoría SIJ el 1 de enero de 2025 o antes podrían ser elegibles para presentar el Formulario I-485 y solicitar la residencia permanente legal, dependiendo de sus circunstancias individuales.

Una posible vía para obtener un permiso de trabajo: Presentar una solicitud de ajuste de estatus también puede brindar la oportunidad de solicitar un Documento de Autorización de Empleo (EAD), que permite a los solicitantes elegibles trabajar legalmente en Estados Unidos mientras su solicitud de residencia permanente está pendiente.

SIJ Update: Many Applicants May Now Be Eligible to Apply for a Green Card

The October 2026 Visa Bulletin brings important news for individuals with pending or approved Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) petitions.

Applicants who filed Form I-360 under the SIJ category on or before January 1, 2025, may now be eligible to file Form I-485 to apply for lawful permanent residency, depending on their individual circumstances.

A Potential Path to Work Authorization: Filing for adjustment of status may also provide an opportunity to apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), allowing eligible applicants to work legally in the United States while their Green Card application is pending.
