It's hard to be rational and strategic after your innocents have been brutally slaughtered but that's where sound leadership comes into play. It's time to offer Palestinians a chance to improve their lives and then slowly and meticulously eliminate the Hamas terrorists. Mossad and Shin Bet are very good at this. Non-Hamas affiliated Palestinians are part of the long-term solution and should not be radicalized by the huge collateral damage that will occur from a land invasion of Gaza. Moreover, if 150,000 IDF soldiers are bogged down in Gaza a golden opportunity is presented to Hezbollah to attack from the north. Release Marwan Barghuti as a good faith gesture and let the Palestinian Authority re-take the street. Offer a solution other than continued conflict. If the Palestinians reject a settlement, like in 1967, then the never-ending conflict must continue but making a genuine effort for peace is not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of a positive vision for the future that may appeal to the average Palestinian family that wants a better life for their children. It will also align world opinion on the side of Israel. This is the smart move. It will not satisfy the understandable thirst for revenge, but it is the correct choice that a leader should make. Jewish people are proud and not afraid to fight. Don't let Hamas use that against you. Offer a Hamas alternative. Try to win the Palestinian street but remain prepared to continue with endless conflict if a resolution cannot be achieved. I'm not an Israeli. I'm an outsider who feels great affection for Israel and compassion for the Palestinians. Ultimately the residents of this region must fashion their own solution if possible.
Storming into Gaza will fulfill Hamas’s wish.
