Shavitz Law Group has secured conditional certification of a nationwide collective action involving mortgage underwriters who worked for Equity Prime Mortgage LLC within the past three years and claim they were misclassified as exempt from overtime pay.

This ruling allows eligible underwriters nationwide to receive notice of the case and an opportunity to participate.

Truth: Being classified as salaried exempt doesn't automatically mean your employer classified you correctly.

Many employees are told they're "exempt" from overtime simply because they're paid a salary. But under federal law, your job title alone doesn't determine whether you're entitled to overtime pay. Employers must meet specific legal requirements before an employee can properly be classified as exempt.
