Do you have an extraordinary talent? 🇺🇸✨

The O-1 Visa was built for people like you: professionals who stand out in science, the arts, business, education, or athletics and are ready to take their career to the next level in the United States.

Here’s why it’s worth knowing about:

âś… 3-year work authorization with your sponsoring employer

âś… Processing in just a few months

âś… Your family can join you under the O-3 visa

âś… Fully renewable with unlimited one-year extensions

Who qualifies?

✅If you’ve won awards in your field.

âś…Belong to prestigious associations.

âś…Have published work.

âś…Made significant contributions to your industry.

âś…Or command an exceptional salary

….. you might already meet the criteria!

The process is more straightforward than you’d think: your U.S. employer files Form I-129 with USCIS, you document your track record, and attend an interview at a U.S. embassy.
If living and working in the U.S. is the goal, this visa might be your clearest path there.

👇 Want to know which visa is the right fit for your move to the United States? Reach out to us: we’re happy to walk you through your options.

There’s a rumor going around about a “30-day OPT rule” and it’s causing a lot of unnecessary panic among F-1 students.

Let’s clear this up.

First, what hasn’t changed:
âś… Standard Post-Completion OPT still gives you 90 days of unemployment within your 12-month period.

✅ STEM OPT gets an extra 60 days — bringing your total to 150 days of unemployment allowed.

So where does the “30 days” actually come from?

The 30-day rule has nothing to do with unemployment. It’s about your filing deadline.

Once your DSO enters the OPT recommendation in SEVIS, USCIS must physically receive your application within 30 days. That’s it. That’s the rule people are misreading.

Here’s the full filing window:
→ You can apply up to 90 days before graduation
→ Or up to 60 days after your program ends
→ But once your DSO submits the SEVIS recommendation, USCIS has to receive your application within 30 days

A few things every student should keep in mind:
→ Unemployment days are cumulative — they add up over your entire OPT period
→ Weekends count toward your unemployment days
→ Going over your limit can affect your F-1 status and trigger a SEVIS termination

Before you believe anything you see on social media about immigration rules — check uscis.gov directly.

The consequences of acting on bad information are too serious to risk.

Getting your US visa approved on the first try doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. The difference between a yes and a no often comes down to preparation and the right mindset going in.

Here are five things that actually make a difference:

1. Know Your “Why” Inside Out
The officer isn’t looking for a rehearsed speech, they’re looking for someone who genuinely knows their own plans.

Whether you’re traveling for tourism, business, or education, be clear on your purpose and speak about it naturally.

Confidence comes from understanding, not memorization.

2. Come Ready, Not Just Willing
Organize your documents before you walk in, financial records, proof of employment or enrollment, invitation letters if relevant.

You may not be asked for all of it, but showing up prepared tells the officer you’re serious about this trip.

3. Prove You Have Something to Come Back To
One of the biggest concerns officers have is whether you’ll overstay. Make it easy for them to say yes, mention your job, your studies, your family, your business. Give them a clear picture of the life you’re returning to.

4. Look the Part, Feel the Part
You don’t need to dress to impress just look put-together and professional. Stand tall, make eye contact, and keep your nerves in check. How you carry yourself communicates as much as what you say.

5. Less Is More When You Speak
Answer what’s asked. Nothing more, nothing less. Over-explaining often raises more questions than it answers. Short, direct, honest responses are what build trust with an officer and trust is what gets visas approved.

Hey everyone đź‘‹ Quick question for anyone running a company with offices in more than one country:

Do you have a manager or senior employee abroad that you'd want working out of your US office?

If they've been with your company for at least a year, there's a visa called the L-1A that was built exactly for this situation.

No lottery.
No sponsorship drama.
Just a straightforward transfer process for executives and managers.

A lot of business owners don't realize this option exists until way later than it should.

If anyone has questions about how it works or whether they'd qualify, happy to answer here.

That's what I do at Papagikos Law.
