Algunas actualizaciones profesionales divertidas de Colibrí Legal PLLC:

Primero, estoy muy feliz de compartir que a partir del 19 de octubre, Colibrí Legal PLLC será un proveedor de servicios legales a través del Programa de Asistencia Técnica Empresarial (BTAP) de la Ciudad de Minneapolis. Si eres dueño de un pequeño negocio en Minneapolis, o trabajas con pequeñas empresas, por favor comunícate si necesitas ayuda con contratos, documentos de gobierno o contratos de arrendamiento comerciales. A través de BTAP, las pequeñas empresas elegibles pueden acceder a estos servicios legales sin costo directo. Me emociona especialmente la oportunidad de ayudar a las pequeñas empresas a obtener el apoyo legal que necesitan para construir negocios resilientes y sostenibles.

Segundo, me complace compartir que recientemente obtuve la designación "North Star Lawyer" 2025, que reconoce a abogados de Minnesota que brindan al menos 50 horas de servicio legal pro bono en un año calendario. Es un privilegio trabajar en asociación con la comunidad de asistencia legal de Minnesota para ayudar a hacer que los servicios legales sean más accesibles para personas que de otro modo podrían prescindir de ellos.

Y finalmente, me estoy tomando un poco de tiempo para alejarme del despacho y ponerme en el camino.

A few fun professional updates from Colibrí Legal PLLC:

First, I’m excited to share that starting October 19, Colibrí Legal PLLC will be a legal services provider through the City of Minneapolis’ Business Technical Assistance Program (BTAP). If you are a Minneapolis small business owner, or you work with small businesses, please reach out if you need help with contracts, governance documents, or commercial leases. Through BTAP, eligible small businesses can access these legal services at no direct cost. I’m particularly excited about the opportunity to help small businesses get the legal support they need to build resilient and sustainable businesses.

Second, I’m pleased to share that I recently earned the 2025 “North Star Lawyer” designation, recognizing Minnesota attorneys who provide at least 50 hours of pro bono legal service in a calendar year. It is a privilege to work in partnership with Minnesota’s legal aid community to help make legal services more accessible to people who might otherwise go without them.

And finally, I’m taking a little time to step away from the law office and onto the trail.

Colibrí Legal PLLC will be taking a short pause from new cases while I embark on a mini-sabbatical: I’ll be walking across Northern Spain! I’ll be away from mid-August through mid-October and will resume taking new cases when I return.

I’m looking forward to trading my computer for a backpack, conference calls for conversations on the trail, and Minnesota pavement for hundreds of miles of the Spanish countryside.
A little time to walk, think, recharge, and return with a renewed mind, body, and spirit.

The initial application period for Economic Response grants to small businesses will close at 4:30 p.m. CST on Wednesday, March 4.

We’ve received an overwhelming response—nearly 2,000 applications in two weeks—underscoring the great need for this funding. To distribute our limited funds quickly and efficiently, we will stop accepting new applications on March 4 while our partners review submissions and make grant decisions.

As funding allows, a second phase of grants from the Economic Response Fund may be offered in the future.
