A statement from Shalom Lamm regarding the decision to withdraw from Litigation:
“I came to Bloomingburg almost 10 years ago with a sense of optimism about revitalizing a village that had fallen on tough economic times. I still have that sense of optimism that eventually this community will come together in peaceful coexistence and be a model of responsible, sustained growth, and solid economic opportunity.
The past months have witnessed a disappointing climate of division, vitriol, and strife. We don’t want the election challenge to fuel that climate. Instead, we will try to defuse it and turn hurt into health, and combat hatred with love.
I have made a tough decision and instructed my attorneys to not pursue any litigation standing in the way of certifying the election. This is not a reflection of the merits of the case but a decision that moving forward is not in the long-term interests in the Village of Bloomingburg where I continue to reside and where I hope to continue to be a positive force for change.
I congratulate the presumptive new Village officials, and look forward to working with them. An olive branch is now extended even to those who have said and written regrettable things. My memory for hatred is short, and my ability to embrace former adversaries is powerful. Let’s all work together.”
