Navarro County tax bills are going out this month. Open yours when it arrives rather than waiting for January. Check that every exemption and special valuation you expect is on it, like a homestead exemption or agricultural valuation. If one is missing, the appraisal district is the office to call, not the tax office. The district grants exemptions. The tax office collects what the bill says. Before you buy rural land in Navarro County, find out who can bring water to it, and get the answer in writing. A utility's service area on the map only tells you who has to answer. It doesn't mean a line runs past the gate, that it has pressure at that spot, or that there's a meter to sell this year. Ask the utility for a service availability letter that names the tract. A yes over the counter is worth nothing at closing. Seventeen utilities hold service area in this county, and I've listed them with phone numbers here:
