Starting October 1st, we honor those who have been impacted by breast cancer. 1 in 8 women develop breast cancer in their lifetime, making it the most common cancer amongst women. This month seeks to educate women on signs to look out for, where they can seek help, and connect them with stories of survivors. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, attacks the nervous system and detroys nerve cells in control of muscle movement. Diagnosis can take months, and once you are diagnosed, the average life expectancy is anywhere from 2 to 5 years. Great Lakes Family Probate & Estates hopes that with our contributions, along with many others, that a cure to ALS can be found. If you could not make the walk, but still wish to make a difference, donations for ALS research can be made to the ALS association at als.org. The only way to help keep hope alive is through us all doing our part.

Dolly Parton once built a career singing about working "9 to 5."
But behind the rhinestones was also a remarkably successful businesswoman who spent decades building a legacy.
