On January 6, 2026, I had the profound honor of attending the Passing of the Gavel Ceremony, where North Dakota welcomed its first female Chief Justice, Lisa Fair McEvers, succeeding the esteemed Jon Jensen. This moment stands out as one of my most treasured memories, surrounded by inspiring peers and fellow female attorneys who have blazed the trail for women like me in our noble profession.

As an Executive Committee Member of the Women Lawyers Section of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, I’ve been privileged to connect with Chief Justice Fair McEvers. Her unwavering engagement, humility, fairness, and poised confidence continue to deeply inspire me. I’m thrilled for our state and judiciary under her leadership.

Bailey and Russell Graner were able to get legislation passed to streamline the adoption process. On Saturday, they got to see their work play out in court as they prepared to take home their newest family member.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending and helping sponsor this year’s Guardianship Association of North Dakota Conference.

Several national experts, and even an international expert from Israel, presented on ethical concerns, best practices, and proposed legislation to help ensure the continued safety and vitality of our vulnerable populations.

Undoubtedly, this career can be stressful and demanding at times but having the opportunity to help families and their loved ones navigate the trenches of some of the most debilitating and heartbreaking diseases is an honor I do not take lightly.

Having had family members suffer from Parkinson’s and dementia diagnoses and bearing witness firsthand to the heartbreak these diseases can cause has only made me appreciate even more the delicacy and severity of my clients’ situations.

I pray my experiences continue to allow me to provide compassionate and effective legal representation to family members who are forced to deal with not only the devastating decline of their loved ones but an oftentimes daunting legal process. 🙏❤️
