Law Day at Ramsay IB High School

MCBA 2026 President Clinton Richardson and Birmingham City Attorney Nicole King spent Law Day with students at Ramsay IB High School. King is also a member of MCBA.

Launched in 2023, Ramsay’s Academy of Law is a NAF-certified program designed to prepare Birmingham students for legal careers through specialized curriculum, work-based learning, and professional mentorship. Students gain exposure to the profession through experiences such as mock trials, law school visits, and guest lectures from legal professionals.

Special thanks to Ramsay High School staff member Eduardo Parker for being an excellent host.

MCBA is proud to support opportunities that help students see themselves in the legal profession and better understand the role of law in our society.

If you are an MCBA member with photos from your Law Day participation, please tag MCBA when sharing them on social media. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Partnership matters, and this is exactly why.

Tickets sold out earlier than expected for the 2025 Magic City Bar Association Scholarship Banquet. We realized just how meaningful that was when the grandmothers of two scholarship recipients called our office, hoping to purchase seats because they were no longer available online. They were not asking for complimentary tickets. They simply wanted the chance to be in the room to support their grandchildren.

We looked at every possible option. We studied the seating chart, tried to add another table, and worked through every possible adjustment. Nothing worked.

Still determined to make sure these grandmothers could be front and center for such a special moment, we called our friends at Alabama Power. We explained the situation, and before we could even finish the thought, they immediately offered two of their seats.

On paper, it may seem like a small gesture. In reality, it meant the world.

It meant two grandmothers, who have played deeply important roles in their grandchildren’s lives, were able to witness a milestone they helped make possible.

That is what partnership looks like. Thoughtful. Generous. Immediate. Meaningful.

Thank you, Alabama Power, for always understanding that impact is not just about large commitments. Sometimes it is about making room for the people who matter most.
