Clear Landing Clear Landing is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting heirs' property in Alabama.

Over the past two years, our team has traveled across the country, training hundreds of state Extension professionals and community groups through the "Understanding Heirs’ Property at the Community Level" curriculum, a program hosted by the Southern Rural Development Center (SRDC) and Alcorn State National Policy Center. Through our involvement in this program, the Heirs' Property Practitioner Ne

twork, and the Alabama Heirs' Property Alliance, we decided to form a non-profit organization that would help heirs' property owners with low-to-moderate income preserve their land by providing thorough title analysis, personalized strategic plans to clear title, and estate planning - at no cost to the landowners.

Clear Landing, Inc. is proud to announce the launch of the West Alabama Family Land & Forestry Resilience Project, a new initiative designed to help families protect their land, preserve generational wealth, and plan for the future.

If you own forest or timberland in Hale, Greene, Pickens, or Sumter County, you may qualify for free estate planning and land stewardship assistance through this grant-funded program.

Services may include:
✅ Estate planning to protect family land
✅ Trusts & LLCs to support long-term land ownership
✅ Heirs' property screening & potential resolution assistance (when eligible)
✅ Forestry and stewardship resources
✅ Information about voluntary forestry & conservation opportunities

Participants will attend a free educational workshop, complete a brief eligibility screening, meet with our legal team, and, if eligible, receive customized estate planning documents designed to help keep their land in the family.

This project is presented by Clear Landing, Inc., in partnership with Gregory Varner & Associates and the Southern Agriculture & Forestry Group, and is funded by the Sustainable Forestry and African American Land Retention Network and U.S. Endowment for Forestry & Communities.
