Important reminders and responsibilities from the MLCC for liquor licensees and their staff to help keep patrons safe:

Always Check ID – It’s Illegal to Serve Minors.
-Licensees are legally obligated to make a diligent inquiry to determine whether a patron is 21 years of age or older before selling or serving alcohol to them.
-Providing alcohol to minors is a major offense that can lead to $1,000 in fines and up to six months in jail.

It is illegal to sell or serve alcohol to intoxicated customers or allow them to consume alcoholic beverages on licensed premises.
-Make certain that no one becomes intoxicated in your establishment (including the licensee and any employees).
-Selling alcoholic beverages to intoxicated individuals can result in serious consequences – including criminal penalties, fines and possible license suspension or revocation.
-A licensee may be held liable in civil litigation if the sale or furnishing of alcoholic beverages is found to be the proximate cause of damage, injury or death of an innocent party.
-Know the signs and constantly be watchful for patrons who have had too much to drink to help ensure public safety and protect your business.

Know the Legal Holiday Hours of Operation/Alcohol Sales.
-December 24, Christmas Eve – the sale of alcohol must end by midnight.
-December 25, Christmas Day – sale of alcohol may not begin until 12 noon.
-December 26 – normal legal hours for alcohol sales resume.
-January 1, New Year’s Day, the sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited during these hours: On-premises licensees: between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. Off-premises licensees: between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.

Avoid Overcrowding. Know Your Establishment’s Capacity Limit.

Licensees Must Maintain Order and Control of the Licensed Premises at All Times

Licensees Have the Authority to Refuse Sale to Anyone at Any Time.
-If an ID doesn’t look valid or staff suspects a patron is intoxicated, refuse sale to the customer.
-Licensees and their staff can demand that a customer leave their licensed premises, and –- if the situation appears threatening –- may call the police.

Stay in Compliance with Liquor Laws and Rules Through Continuing Education.

Feel free to contact my office with any questions or concerns.

How to Choose a Real Estate Lawyer

Are you looking for an excellent real estate lawyer, and you are not sure how to screen and select the best real estate lawyer? Here are a few questions you can ask before selecting a real estate lawyer to help you with any real estate related transaction or lawsuit.

How many years have you worked in this area of law?
How many similar transactions or cases have you handled?
What were the outcomes?
Will you be working on my file personally?
How will you handle my case?

The questions above work with most areas of law.

My firm specializes in many areas of law, including real estate, business, liquor license, cannabis, and hospitality.

The number of tickets has plummeted in the past three decades, a decline experts attribute to overall staffing shortages

From a friend and colleague, Danny Garmo.

For people who have loved ones taken into immigration custody by ICE. You can search for them on ICE Locator. You will need their Alien Registration Number and country or full name, country and date of birth. Some names are still not updated into the ICE locator system as of yet. See link below. Reports are they are being held in Youngstown, Ohio. We are doing our best to try and give family members all the information we have and to strategize the next plan of attack as Lawyers during these difficult times. We are all just in complete shock as is everyone else. We as a community must keep our composure and let the law and justice prevail.
I will update once I have more information and ICE is very slow in providing such information which makes it even more difficult. This is unfair and an injustice.

If you know the detainee's A-Number, ICE recommends you use the A-Number search. The A-Number must be exactly nine digits long. If the A-Number has fewer than nine digits, please add zeros at the beginning. You are also required to select the detainee's correct Country of Birth.
