If you are a current client, you will have heard from me by now. To my past clients, colleagues, friends, and family- I have made the very difficult but exciting decision to wind down Bennett Law and leave the practice of law. Owning and operating Bennett Law has been an absolute joy, and I am so honored that so many of you have trusted me in your hardest moments. I started Bennett Law four years ago at a time when I didn’t even know how bad I was going to need it. This career carried me through my brief time as a single mom and connected me with so many amazing colleagues, clients, and now dear friends. Running a practice is no joke! I have the utmost respect for all of you who do it. As Ollie grows older and I plan my wedding for this April, my priorities have changed and this decision is absolutely the best one for my family and I right now. I am so lucky to have the best family, fiance, and Ollie man to have my back! I am very excited to share what I’ll be doing next in the coming weeks!

Ansley was so honored to be a part of this amazing group of lawyers in Leadership Forum Class 19. She cannot believe she got to participate in this program with some of the best and brightest attorneys in the State. Not to mention, this program was SO MUCH FUN! Ansley can’t wait to bring back all she’s learned to her practice, the Birmingham Bar, and the State Bar.

If you have been putting off getting an old charge expunged, now is the time! In Alabama, even dismissed charges will show up on your criminal history and background checks unless expunged. Under Alabama’s expungement laws, you can now expunge dismissed misdemeanors and felonies, as well as misdemeanor convictions. This past week was the first session of Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum Class 19. Ansley had the best time learning about her Meyers Briggs type (ESFJ) and meeting some amazing attorneys from across the state. She may not have won the cooking competition, but she’ll get a win in your case!

Bennett Law had a great time presenting “Criminal Defense 101” with Luckie Milad for the Birmingham Bar Association’s Solo and Small Firm Section on behalf of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. We hope everyone learned something and feels more confident handling criminal cases!

Did you know that Ansley serves on the executive committee for the Young Lawyers Section of the Birmingham Bar? Last week YLS hosted their annual charity trivia tournament where they raised $10,000 for Community Care Development Network. Always a good time for a good cause!
