The predictable response may be:
“But the suffering isn’t equal.”
“This is false equivalence.”
“This is distracting from Gaza.”
If every attempt at a fuller picture is immediately collapsed back into one villain, one victim, one narrative, the conversation stops.
Strong minds can stay in a hard moment long enough to consider distilled information before reacting. They can slow the moment. Think. Then respond.
Different populations can be suffering in different ways, at different scales, at different times, with different levels of power and responsibility - and we can still describe the whole picture and system.
If every fuller picture gets reduced again to one side, we may not be problem solving anymore. We may simply be reinforcing the divide.
For those who want to think forward:
Who is helping people coexist?
Who is making coexistence harder?
What has to change for innocent people on both sides to live safely?
Which voices are offering something more useful than another reason to hate?
Who is best speaking to ideas for actions plans on how to move forward? See the next slides for answers. Drop more thought leaders below.
This is where we want to keep the conversation.
Above The Algorithm. Toward what comes next.
