NEW REGULATIONS FOR WORK PERMITS
New regulations impacting asylum seekers’ access to an Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) go into effect on August 25, 2020.

Here are some of the updates:

***USCIS will no longer be required to process initial work permit applications within 30 days. This change affects any initial work permit application filed on or after August 21, 2020.

***Clients who file their initial work permit application on or after August 25, 2020 [those who filed their I-589s on or after March 27, 2020] will need to wait 365 calendar days after filing their asylum claims before they can apply for an EAD.

***No EAD if asylum application is filed after the 1-year-deadline
Asylum seekers who file claims after the one year deadline will not be eligible for EADs until an asylum officer of Immigration Judge has determined that an exception to the one-year-deadline applies.

If you have already submitted your asylum application and you will complete 150 days of pending before August 21, 2020, you should hurry and file your EAD application NOW!!

If you are eligible for unemployment benefits do not be afraid to use it.

📌During these difficult times, a lot of us lost the only source of income. 💸💸💸 Many people are afraid of applying for unemployment thinking it will negatively affect their immigration cases.
Fortunately, it is not generally true. ❌

📌Good news are that unemployment benefits are exempt from public charge rule and should not negatively affect your immigrant status in the future. 🌟👏🏻
In other words, even if you are not a US Citizen 🇺🇸or do not even have a Green Card 🐢🐛you may still apply for unemployment.

🚫There is a risk, however, for people who are here on non immigrant work visas such as O, P, H, L, E, and others.🚫

📌For all others, just make sure you ✅have a valid work authorization (if you do not have a green card) and
✅ eligible to receive unemployment benefits otherwise (not every person who lost a job is eligible).

📌Do not be afraid to use your earned benefits!

📌Это значит, что использование пособий по безработице само по себе не повлияет на ваш иммиграционный статус в будущем. 🌟👍

📌Другими словами, даже если вы не являетесь гражданином США🇺🇸 или даже если у вас нет грин карты🐢🐛, вы всё равно можете получать пособия по безработице.

🚫 Исключением являются рабочие визы такие как O, P, H, L, E, и другие. Для них подавать на пособия рискованно.🚫

Для всех остальных, ✅Убедитесь что у вас есть право на работу и ✅что вы имеете право подать на данныe пособия по всем остальным критериям. (Не каждый человек, потерявший работу имеет право на пособия. ‼️).

📌Не бойтесь использовать пособия на которые вы имеете полное право!

That moment you realize you are not allowed to hug your friends anymore 😢
I talked to my kids about no touching policy and went for a walk. Some friends were walking towards us. We all said Hi and waived. But Emily decided to hug her friend 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Both parents freaked out a bit and yelled “No Touching” 🤦‍♀️
It’s an adjustment for all of us, we’ll get there... 🧘🏼‍♀️🧡💙🧘🏼‍♀️
