It is with a heavy heart that I send my condolences to the family and friends of someone who was very important in my life and career. Edward (Ed) Wisch passed away Sunday evening.
Ed and his wife, Bev, moved from Chicago to the Eastern Shore in early 1984. Ed interviewed with Sharyn O'Hare and started with Martin Groft Real Estate and Construction. Ed went on to build a very successful career in new residential construction. Over the years, he represented Iacchetta Home Builders, Grace Construction, and J&A Builders, guiding hundreds of buyers through the new construction process with engineering expertise, steady hand, and genuine care and pride.
Through the years, Ed and Bev worked with several brokerages, including O’Conor, Piper & Flynn, RE/MAX, and Coldwell Banker, where they retired from their professional careers. Together, they also created one of the first real estate teams of its kind here at the beach, known as the Wisch Team. Their daughter, Wendy Wisch, continues the legacy instilled in her by her parents to this day through her own successful career in real estate sales.
Ed was a proud Marine, a true gentleman, and the ultimate professional throughout his 95 years of life. He was also a trainer and mentor who loved the power of a red pencil and a slide rule. He was tough, but fair, and for those of us lucky enough to be on his team, you know exactly what I mean. We were all better because of his diligence, his high standards, and his willingness to teach.
He carried himself with integrity, kindness, and quiet strength, and he earned the respect of everyone fortunate enough to work with him.
“Semper Fi” means “always faithful,” and Ed lived by those words. He was always faithful to his family, his friends, his clients, his community, and the values he held dear. Ed was a member of Coastal Association of REALTORS®, Maryland REALTORS® , Eastern Shore Association of REALTORS® Virginia REALTORS® and National Association of REALTORS® during his real estate career.
He was a faithful member of the OC Lions Club and a true Hokie fanatic! Ed was a founding member of a secret society known as the Dead Chicken Club, who still meet on Thursdays to discuss what can’t be discussed outside the club😊You all know who you are!
Ed leaves behind his beloved wife, Bev; of 73 years; his daughter, Wendy; his son, Brent; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Ed made a lasting impact on our community, our industry, and on me personally. I am grateful for his friendship, guidance, and example. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May your memories of Ed bring you peace, comfort, and joy as you celebrate a life so very well lived.
The family is planning a memorial service on August 1 at Community Church in Ocean Pines, with visitation at 10AM and service at 11AM.
Semper Fi, Ed. Always faithful. Always remembered.
