Trial Advocacy DeCal The official page of UC Berkeley's Trial Advocacy DeCal! This is UC Berkeley's premier undergraduate course in trial law.

The DeCal provides students with an introduction to trial advocacy as it applies to the American legal system. The course uses the fictitious civil case released by the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) for the 2014-2015 school year to teach students the skills associated with trial proceedings. This course will be taught by members of the Cal Mock Trial team, and cover a variety of skills an

d techniques applicable to trial law. These skills include developing case theories, opening statements, direct examinations, cross examinations, closing statements, and how to present a case in court. This course will feature a number of guest speakers and instructors, including Berkeley law professors, practicing attorneys and judges, Berkeley law students, and some of the top undergraduate competitors in AMTA.
