The Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission released the Forward 2050 Regional Transportation Plan, outlining transportation needs for an estimated population of 1M by 2050.

The plan identifies $6B in infrastructure needs, with proposals that include managed lanes on I-49, expanded trail systems, design guidelines across 31 cities in Benton and Washington counties, plus much more.

The team emphasized that the region adds more than 40 residents daily and must begin planning now, with project timelines expected to span 20–25 years.
