Be very careful when talking to anyone claiming you are to receive a very large inheritance over the phone. We've been notified that someone is using our name and phone number to ask for personal details to receive packages of very valuable items by mail. If we are handling an estate administration, we send written notification, and we are usually never the ones responsible for mailing possessions unless we are working closely with the successor trustee. We have notified our phone provider, but with scammers one step ahead, it's hard to catch them all.

Have you heard of the “File of Life”?

The File of Life is a simple tool that helps our Paramedic Firefighters provide faster, more accurate care during an emergency. It’s a small form where you list important medical information such as medications, allergies, medical conditions, and emergency contacts. This information is placed on your refrigerator so responders can quickly find it while treating you during a medical emergency.

For individuals who live alone, have medical conditions, or take multiple medications, the File of Life can make a big difference by giving paramedics information they need to treat you.

You can pick up a File of Life for free at our fire station, 150 Military West. If you have a loved one who lives alone in Benicia, you can pick one up for them and help them fill it out. It only takes a few minutes to fill out, but it can help protect your health in an emergency.
