“If you live in Bend, and you want to make money while living here, you have only so many options,” Eager said. “Bend has no dominant industry from an employment standpoint, so if you’re going to make it here, many people have to have their own business to make it. It’s partially out of necessity.”

California and Florida have had very different approaches to COVID, especially in comparing business restrictions. California Governor Gavin Newsom has aggressively closed businesses.
