Here is a rather long but honest thanks I want to share publicly ...
There are moments in life when people come alongside you and forever change your journey. For my husband and I, those people are Laurie Bennett and Dan Pittsenbarger.
Over the last five years, as we've navigated relocation, my immigration, entrepreneurship, uncertainty, and celebration, Laurie and Dan have been steadfast friends, generous mentors, and tireless champions of our success.
When we arrived during the pandemic, they helped us find our rental home and immediately made us feel like we belonged. They welcomed us into their regular gatherings, introduced us to friends and colleagues who soon became neighbors and community, and opened doors that helped transform Whatcom County from a place we lived into a place we truly called home.
Laurie went even further throughout my TN Visa journey and making it possible for me to transition from the Vancouver area with confidence and purpose. Through her encouragement, promotional support, social media exposure, I was able to begin working with clients almost immediately. That level of belief in someone else's potential is rare—and I will never forget it.
Dan has been equally generous with his time, wisdom, and patience. He endured countless questions from me, shared his knowledge freely, and even took us exploring throughout the region as we searched for possibilities for our future dream home. Whether driving us through the grasslands or sharing his perspective on life and business, he has always made us feel supported and valued.
Together, they have given us experiences we never could have imagined—from unforgettable journeys into the mountains to discover breathtaking alpine lakes and meadows beneath Mount Baker, to welcoming my husband to perform acoustic guitar at their events, making him feel appreciated and included.
They have celebrated our victories, stood with us through uncertainty, encouraged us through the challenges of the Green Card process, and even hosted a celebration dinner when a major milestone was finally reached. Their friendship has been present during both our most frightening moments and our happiest ones.
When I think of Laurie and Dan, words come to mind such as:
Generous. Loyal. Encouraging. Selfless. Genuine. Visionary. Welcoming. Compassionate. Supportive. Trustworthy. Community-builders. Difference-makers.
But even those words don't fully capture the impact they've had on our lives.
They consistently elevate every experience and every person around them. They embody helpful leadership. They create opportunities for others. They build community. Most importantly, they make people feel seen, valued, and capable of achieving more than they ever thought possible.
If anyone ever asked me for an example of a couple committed to making the world a better place through their actions, I would point to Laurie and Dan without hesitation.
