On a quiet coastal bluff in Normandy Park, Washington, a century-old orchard has become the foundation for something rare in Pacific Northwest residential development — a project that begins not with architecture, but with the land itself.

HJEMSTED, the Norwegian word for homestead, is a limited collection of four new construction residences by Terrain Signature Properties. The name was not chosen for its resonance. It was inherited from the ground — farmed by Norwegian settlers, cultivated for over a hundred years, and now continued in the form of four west-facing homes oriented to frame Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains.

The land shaped the architecture. The architecture defers to the land.

Eple — Norwegian for apple — is one of four Scandinavian homes at HJEMSTED, a limited collection by Terrain Signature Properties in Normandy Park. From the moment I first walked this site, I knew this collection was something different. The care that's gone into every decision — the materials, the landscape, the way each home sits on its land — it shows.

Eple is the luminous one. Designed around light and proportion, with warm cedar, dark cladding, and west-facing views of Puget Sound that stop you in your tracks.
