Yesterday, I represented a father in a custody modification hearing and the court granted his request to become the primary conservator.

Custody cases are not about mothers versus fathers.

They are about the best interest of the child.

Wanna hear an uncontested divorce horror story? 👀

This happens more often than people realize: one spouse is awarded the house, there’s a handshake deal to refinance, but it never makes it into the decree. Years later—credit ruined, in this case, heirs involved, and no proceeds for the other spouse.

Lesson: Even when things feel simple, you still need refinance and conditional sale provisions in the event that the refinance doesn’t occur and a lawyer to protect your interests.
