Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)

** Individuals who are not usually eligible for regular UI and who cannot work due to COVID-19 are eligible for a maximum of 39 weeks of benefits, which includes $600 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC).

** Effective January 27, 2020 through Dec. 31, 2020.

** Please do NOT yet submit an application if you are self-employed, an independent contractor, gig worker, have insufficient work history, and/or believe you may be eligible. Our system is currently not set up to process these types of applicants, as they are formerly considered ineligible. If you do submit an application, it will be denied. To receive an e-mail once the new application is ready, please sign up here.

Do Realtors and The Real Estate Industry fall under Essential Businesses in Maryland? The Governor just closed all non-essential businesses in Maryland effective 5pm March 23, 2020.

Based on Guidelines, The Real Estate Industry is a part of the Commercial Facilities Sector and IS considered an Essential Business.

And this guidance does not specifically say Real Estate Industry, at the bottom it does say: "The fact that a particular business, organization, or facility is not included in the list does not mean it is excluded from the federal critical infrastructure sectors. Please consult https://www.cisa.gov/identifying-critical-infrastructure-during-covid-19 for additional guidance about what is and is not included in the federal critical infrastructure sectors."

On that page you will find Real Estate Industry listed under the Commercial Facilities Sector's eight sub-sectors.

That being said, you should conduct your business in a manner that protects you, your family, your clients and your business the best way you can.

Due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, the Harford County Earth Day celebration, scheduled for 25 April, in Aberdeen’s Festival Park, has been cancelled.

We want to thank our volunteers, staff and most importantly our loyal, long-time community supporters. Earth Day has been and will always be about getting involved and giving back. It’s about understanding and helping with a need or cause that’s bigger than any one of us.

With the challenges each of us now face, what better way to celebrate the wondrous mystery and beauty of our planet Earth than to find a way to help another person. So, the challenge of Earth Day 2020 is to reach out and make a positive difference in whatever way you can. We look forward to Earth Day 2021 being a celebration of those victories from 2020. Did you see the stats for May? Home prices climbed in May.

Residential home prices climbed in May compared to the same period in 2018, according to housing statistics released by Maryland REALTORS®. Average home prices rose by 4.1 percent while the median price increased by 4.2 percent as compared to the same time in 2018.

“The units pending (units under contract) jumped to 10,108 from 8,571 in 2018, while active inventory decreased from 3.5 months in 2018 to at 3.1 months in 2019,” continued Tobin. A 6 month to 6.5-month supply is considered to be a balanced market.

Of note, units sold experienced a drop of 1.8 percent due in large part to the drop in settled sales in Baltimore City as a result of the widely-reported ransomware attack.

“The average and median housing sale prices both climbed at reasonable rates in May”, said Maryland REALTORS® President Merry Tobin.

The May statewide average sales price was $367,018 compared to $352,569 in 2018, while median sales price increased to $312,500 from $300,000. Added Tobin, “This jump of 4.1 percent and 4.2 percent, respectively, is robust and may, in the long term, have a negative impact on housing affordability.”
