Did you know that your AI inquiry history is discoverable?

That means that if you’re a party to a lawsuit (or your company is, and you’re chatting with AI on company computers), the other side can ask for your chat history.

Some folks even ask AI for legal advice! AI is a terrible substitute for legal counsel— not only is the information it provides likely wrong, but it is not confidential. One of the benefits of asking your lawyer questions is that your questions and the advice you receive is protected by the attorney-client privilege. AI chats are not. So if you’re “just spitballing” some legal strategies with your favorite large language model, beware that you might have to read those strategies aloud in court.
