Hello & Happy Fourth of July! I just started a summer college course and am required to take an Anthropology Lab class to complete my goal of an A.A. This class is at Crafton College in Yucaipa, CA and I was very surprised to read the 1st assignment - as I never expected to find it as an introduction to the study. Here is the question presented by the instructor: "Imagine you're stranded on a deserted island with only three items of your choice. What would these items be, and why did you choose them? Share your selections with the class, and explain the reasoning behind your choices." Wanting to share my imaginative answer because there is a hidden message on survival that I learned in public high school.
Answer: "My, my, I wasn't planning to be stranded on a deserted island on the 1st day of anthropology lab, but here I am, so let me tell you how I got to be stranded. I started on my sea journey in a very comfortable pocket yacht that is almost 30 ft. in length and ideal for cruising coastal ocean waters. I headed for the deserted island of my choice with my pocket yacht very well stocked with a map, a compass, fuel, and enough provisions to last at least one calendar week - bottled water, food, a 4 oz. bottle of Captain Morgan rum, sunscreen, sun giggles (pun), and a visor hat. To fit a long story into a capsule, I feel asleep at the helm and woke up to find my yacht stranded on the beach from low tide that happened while I was dreaming. But my second object for survival is my monkey that used to live on this island before I adopted this pet. Therefore, my monkey, Monk, knows where to find all the fruits and nuts needed for survival if needed. My 3rd object for survival is my Christian book of Psalms that I used to study in public high school many years ago. I love Psalm 23 because it tells me that the Lord is my Shepherd. So after Monk and I get some exercise on the beach, we will head back for the yacht and wait until the Good Shepherd sends a High Tide. YOU ALL, CLIMB ABOARD & BE STRANDED NO MORE!" Please remember to visit your local Animal Shelter and adopt a pet - probably no monkey there, but wonderful opportunity to adopt unconditional love and companionship of a cat, dog or..........?
